44% of companies predict wage increases in 2019

Some 44 percent of companies expect a rise in wages in the next six months – an increase of 17 percent on six months ago – according to a study by Randstad. However, the scale of wage increases will quite low, with employers predicting a hike of up to 2 percent on current salaries.

The study indicates that wage increases can be expected primarily for those employed in industry (50 percent), trade (49 percent), construction (43 percent) and the financial sector (43 percent).

In terms of employment growth, at the end of the first half of the year 39 percent of respondents declared that they were planning to increase employment, now only 33 percent of employers intend to employ more workers: however, this figure is up 2 percent up y/y.
