PGE EJ 1, the company responsible for the construction of Poland’s first nuclear power plant, has chosen AMEC Nuclear UK as owner’s engineer in the process, according to the firm’s statement quoted by ISBnews.
The advisor was chosen in a procurement process. Other contenders were a consortium of Mott, MacDonald Limited and AF-Consult Switzerland, and another one former by URS Polska i Tractebel Engineering and Exelon Generation Company.
According to the Polish Nuclear Energy Program approved in January this year, the location of the nuclear plant should be chosen by the end of 2016. The first unit of the power plant should start working in 2024 and the first plant should be completed in 2030.
