CEE Equity Partners, a PE fund created by China Exim Bank, is likely to announce its first investment in Poland within the coming weeks, the fund’s investment director Rafał Andrzejewski said at a press conference on Monday.
The first transaction will involve a listed company, Andrzejewski said. CEE Equity Partners will buy a minority stake, but with potential for further investment. The deal will feature both new and existing shares.
The fund plans to invest $500 million in Poland and 15 other CEE-SEE countries over the next two-three years. After 60 percent of that sum has been spent, a second tranche of $1.5 billion may be launched.
CEE Equity Partners is interested in the energy, infrastructure, telecommunications and specialized manufacturing sector. A single investment will involve between $20-75 million from the fund plus optional debt financing.
