According to data gathered by the credit information bureau BIK, the demand for housing loans in the Polish banking sector increased by 33.7 percent y/y in December. The average value of loan application amounted to PLN 221k similar to last year. The data excludes loan applications exceeding PLN 1 million in value.
Overall, 40.6k people filed mortgage applications last month.
“Demand was the highest between Christmas and New Year, which can be attributed to the submission of applications for the last pool of funds from the MdM program, which was allocated immediately in the first days of January,” the report explained.
