General gov’t deficit at 3.2% of GDP, debt at 50.1%

Poland’s general government deficit (central and local government sector) fell to 3.2 percent of GDP in 2014, compared with 4 percent a year before, the Central Statistical Office (GUS) reported.

General government debt declined to 50.1 percent of GDP, whereas it totaled 55.7 percent of GDP in 2013, GUS also informed.

“Decrease of general government debt in 2014 is a result of the redemption of treasury bonds in February 2014 due to the reform of the pension system,” the press release reads.
