Government adopts draft amendment to law combating unfair competition

The Council of Ministers has adopted a draft amendment to the Act on Combating Unfair Competition, the Government Information Center (CIR) reported. The project adapts the Polish law to the European Union regulations concerning the protection of secret know-how and commercial information (business secrets) against unlawful acquisition, use and disclosure.

“Currently, national regulations in EU countries create an unequal level of protection for business secrets, which may discourage entrepreneurs from undertaking international activities, especially in areas requiring investment in innovation,” the press release read.

“Thanks to the proposed solutions, participants in the EU single market will be able to enjoy the same protection of business secrets, which on the one hand should discourage unfair competition, and on the other hand create a more competitive market,” the release continued.
