Multi-screen cinema operator Helios will expand to two new locations – Legionowo near Warsaw and Pabianice near Łódź. The company will open four-screen, approximately 1,200-sqm multiplexes in Legionowo’s Gondola mall (which is now being extended) and in Pabianice’s Tkalnia shopping and entertainment center (construction on which will launch in the coming months) with Colliers International having advised the tenant on both lease agreements. Helios currently operates 43 cinemas across Poland, which feature a total of 237 screens.
According to Anna Radecka, associate director, retail agency, at Colliers International, the plans of Helios to open new cinemas in regional shopping malls testify to the growing interest in entertainment among the inhabitants of smaller towns who expect the same offer as the one that can be found in large cities. The lifestyle and expectations of Poles are changing with malls no longer being shopping destinations only. “A joint study by Colliers and IQS shows that cinema is the most popular form of entertainment among customers of shopping centers in Poland,” Radecka said.
