Moody’s upgrades Poland’s GDP forecast for 2018

Ratings agency Moody’s upgraded Poland’s GDP outlook for 2018 to 4.3 percent from the previous 3.5 percent estimate. The agency added that this forecast is based on the assumption, that the conflict between Warsaw and Brussels will not escalate. “Judicial reform reduces the risk of weakening the independence of the judiciary, weakening control and balance mechanisms, and the rule of law, which could potentially affect our assessment of institutional strength,” Moody’s said.

At the same time, Moody’s revised downward its forecast for Poland’s 2018 general government deficit to 1.8 percent of GDP from 2.3 percent projected in September.
