Henryk Siedlaczek, a member of parliament from the ruling Civic Platform (PO) has made an interpellation to the Ministry of Culture regarding the release date of Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens.
The MP wants to know why the movie will premiere in Poland one week late than elsewhere.
“Poland is one of the six countries where the new episode of Star Wars will be released after December 18. Currently, we are the only European country which scheduled the movie premiere for December 25,” Siedlaczek claims.
The politician argues that such a delay will cause an increase in piracy as the movie will be available online before its screened in Polish cinemas.
“The matter may seem irrelevant, but indirectly it points to important matters, including copyright infringement and piracy,” the MP concluded.
