The city of Poznań is to build a museum dedicated to the Enigma machine by 2018. The project is worth some PLN 15 million.
The investment was granted PLN 10.3 million by the Wielkopolskie voivodship Marshal’s Office, the local government of Poznań will provide the rest. The museum will home a repica of the machine, a multimedia exhibition and a lecture hall.
German military messages enciphered on the Enigma machine were first broken by three Polish cryptologists, Marian Rejewski, Jerzy Różycki and Henryk Zygalski, working for Polish military intelligence.
