Polska Grupa Górnicza (PGG) intends to extract almost 31 million metric tonnes of coal in 2018. By mid-year, the volume of extraction reached 14-15 million tonnes – Deputy Minister of Energy Grzegorz Tobiszowski said on Monday. Last year, PGG closed coal production at 30 million tonnes.
The largest Polish producer of coal, PGG predicted production of over 32 million tons for the previous year, but later the forecasts were adjusted, and at the end of 2017 the company closed production at approx. 30 million tons. The limitation of investments in recent years and the concentration of production meant that at the beginning of 2017 PGG had 36-38 mining walls, compared to 60 walls in 2014.
