Poland’s unemployment drops to 9% – Eurostat

Polish unemployment rate calculated by Eurostat dropped to 9 percent in July 2014 from 9.1 the month before. In July 2013 the figure was 10.4 percent.

The number of unemployed in Poland was 1,551,000 in July.

According to Central Statistical Office (GUS) results, unemployment rate at the end of July was 11.9 percent. Both institutions use different methodology for measuring unemployment.

The unemployment rate measure for the euro zone was 11.5 percent at the end of July and did not change from the previous month results. In July 2013, the rate was 11.9 percent.

The market consensus predicted the rate to be 11.5 percent.

In the whole European Union, the figure was 10.2 percent in July, making no change to June’s results. In July 2013 the measure was 10.9 percent.
