This holiday season will be more expensive than last year. In total, Poles will spend PLN 1.88 billion more than in 2017. On average, Polish families will spend PLN 1,754. Those who receive the 500+ child benefit will spend even more.
Households will spend on average PLN 139 more than last year, according to a study by IBRiS, commissioned by Bank Millennium. The estimated total household expenditure for Christmas 2018 is PLN 23.84 billion.
The payment of social benefits, which increase the purchasing power of people with relatively lowest incomes, is also significant, with families who receive the 500+ benefit predicted to spend PLN 1,973, about PLN 220 more than the average for all families.
