The value of the Polish data market will increase to $21 million at the end of 2018 from $11.9 million a year earlier, according to a report “Global Data Market Size” analyzing 23 key data markets in the world, prepared by OnAudience.com, part of the Cloud Technologies group. Next year, its value could reach PLN 37.2 million, the company stated in a commentary to the report.
“The growing data market in Poland is correlated with online advertising through the programmatic model. The awareness of companies about data processing is also growing,” said Maciej Sawa, CEO of OnAudience.com. He noted, however, that the share of companies effectively monetizing data is still low compared to developed markets.
The value of the European data market is estimated to reach $4.2 billion in 2019, $1 billion more than in 2017. Global data market is valued at PLN 20.6 billion in 2018, and is expected to grow 26.6 percent in 2019 to reach $26 billion.
“Public debate has stated that the GDPR data protection regulation will slow down the data market. Meanwhile, despite EU regulations, its growth rate is still impressive,” said Piotr Prajsnar, CEO of Cloud Technologies. He added that apart from advertising in the programmatic model, it is Artificial Intelligence and blockchain technology that are driving the data market.
