OT Logistics has bought a fifth (2.81 million shares) of Luka Rijeka, a Croatian port on the Adriatic Sea. OT Logistic’s boss, Zbigniew Nowik, said that the deal offers a great opportunity to open up a Baltic-Adriatic trade route. OT is the owner of Port Gdynia and Port Świnoujście on the Baltic Sea

The recapitalization of the port should also increase its shipping volume, which is deemed to be far below its potential at the moment. The transaction was valued at PLN 61.23 million according to wyborcza.biz.pl.

The Polish presence on the Baltic-Adriatic route is increasingly visible with PKP Cargo’s deal with Croatian HZ Cargo and Czech AWT, both of which operate in the countries between Poland and Croatia. PKP Cargo signed a strategic agreement with HZ and bought 80 percent of AWT.
