Prime Minister Morawiecki takes over supervision of Orlen and Lotos

Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki has taken over the power to exercise the property rights of PKN Orlen and Grupa Lotos from the Minister of Energy, effective as of June 1, 2018.

For several weeks, PKN Orlen has been conducting due diligence in Lotos as part of a letter of intent signed with the Ministry of Energy regarding the acquisition of the Gdańsk-based company.

According to unofficial media information, the Prime Minister’s decision to take control is a sign of a difference of opinion between Morawiecki and Energy Minister Krzysztof Tchórzewski regarding the process of combining the two companies.
