The Ministry of Finance sold PLN 6.86 billion retail bonds last year, which is the best result in a decade, the office informed. The most popular were papers maturing in two years (PLN 2.95 billion), followed 4-year bonds (PLN 2.45 billion). Overall, the ministry offered papers maturing between three months and 10 years.
“The year 2017 is definitely a good year for savings bonds, the highest over the last decade, the sales result exceeding PLN 6.8 billion confirms the growing interest in this form of saving. Buyers appreciated Treasury bonds allocating PLN 571 million monthly on average. The inflation readings have undoubtedly contributed to the increase in interest in profitable products and at the same time to hedge savings against inflation. The sale of 4- and 10-year inflation-based bonds in 2017 was over 3 percent higher compared to 2016 and accounted for 44 percent of total sales,” said Deputy Finance Minister Piotr Nowak.
