Led by increased sales of non-specialized products, overall retail sales increased by 4.6 percent, y/y, in October, according to a report in the Polish press on Monday. In more specific terms, sales of pharmaceutical products, cosmetics and orthopedic products increased by 16.5 percent y/y, while food, drinks and tobacco products increased by 3.7 percent. On the other hand, sales of motorcycles, motor vehicles and automobile parts fell by 2.5 percent.
The report also indicated that Q1-Q3 sales figures compared favorably with retail indicators from the previous year. It noted that in the period from January to October, 2016, retail sales had increased by 5.5 percent, compared to a 3.4 percent increase during the same period in 2015.
