Emotions after the Polish national team’s 4:0 victory over Georgia in the UEFA Euro Championship qualifying match on Saturday were running high not only in Poland. Based on reports from Rzeczpospolita, the Polish team’s performance, and especially that of Bayern Munich striker and Polish captain Robert Lewandowski, wowed Scandinavian media.
Danish daily Ekstrabladet commented that “at the very end of a match, which seemed like it would end in a hard earned 1:0, the Bayern star fell into an incredible trance, with three goals in four minutes.”
Norwegian Dagbladet stressed that “observing the Polish star’s goals one could melt in awe.” Meanwhile Swedish Aftonbladet commented that Lewandowski’s overtime hat trick was a wonderfully unexpected spectacle of master class football.”
“Thanks to another victory, Poland is taking the Euro 2016 qualifiers by storm, and is the definite leader in its group in anticipation of next year’s tournament” stressed Svenska Dagbladet. “In four minutes, the Polish striker showed us what football of the highest caliber looks like.”
