On October 1, 2018, the next edition of the event organized by the Second Life Building Initiative will take place in Warsaw – the annual “Second Life of Buildings” conference. Poland and CEE. ” This year, apart from the subject of revitalization and modernization, the main axis of the discussion will be the city-forming role and role of individual market players in it.
At the end of 2017, there were almost 500 modern office buildings in Warsaw, according to the PORF classification, of which around 180 were over 15 years old. According to JLL analyzes, at the end of 2018, this number may increase to almost 200 – it is over 11% increase in the number of buildings and looking at the surface, this translates into a 4% increase year-on-year.
The city is currently producing over 1.4 million m2 of space in projects based on the renewal of historical real estate. The capital is the leader in terms of scale and scale of investments related to revitalization and modernization, and in this respect, the Warsaw City and other Polish agglomerations differ very much. Among the spectacular projects currently being implemented in Warsaw are, among others: the Praga Koneser Center, the Powiśle Power Plant, Bohema Prague, the Prague Port, Art Norblin

Poland and CEE. ” Among the invited guests, among others, representatives of Kiev, Prague, Vilnius, Rome, Bucharest – cities where apart from revitalization projects, also newly built buildings play an important role in city-building, creating interesting concepts of not only individual buildings but larger urban parts.
What are the differences between revitalization projects in European cities? Are the legislation and financing of such investments similar? How big infrastructure projects, such as airports, affect urban tissue? How do the investors of new buildings think of the urban-forming elements and how do those who focus on revitalization and modernization?
