Japanese electronics producer Sharp may offload its Polish factory, according to a report from the Nikkei Asian Review. The company wants to stop manufacturing and selling LCD televisions in Europe, where it is said to be losing “billions of yen.”
The newspaper wrote that Sharp plans to outsource European operations to Taiwan-based TPV Technology. The same company is also seen as a possible buyer for the Polish plant.
Sharp launched production in the Polish factory, in Ostaszewo near Toruń, in 2007. In 2012 the factory lost privileges related to being located in a special economic zone.
