According to S&P Global Ratings analyst for Poland, Frank Gill, Poland’s deficit will increase next year ahead of the parliamentary elections. But should not exceed the 2 percent of GDP threshold.
“We are predicting some widening in deficit due to a very busy electoral period. We still believe the government will keep the deficit inside the 2 percent of GDP,” he said. In its latest ratings upgrade for Poland, a few weeks back, S&P estimates the general government deficit to be at 0.9 percent this year, 1.5 percent in 2019 and 2 percent in 2020.
