Swedish Saab has offered a cooperative contract for the production of new submarines for the Polish Navy. Along with French DCNS and German TKMS, the Swedes hope to win an order from the Polish Ministry of Defense, which is due to be awarded this year. At stake is a military contract worth around PLN 7.5 billion.
The Swedes are already at the level of technical negotiations with the Ministry of Defense and this week are present in Gdańsk, at the Balt Military Expo 2014, which is a showcase of various military technology, as reported in Rzeczpospolita.
Saab’s A26 submarine is still in the design stage, but is said to be smaller, faster, and more difficult to intercept than its competitors.
