Warsaw, 2nd September 2014 – the international festival Warsaw Whisky Fest will take place on 25th and 26th October 2014 and will present globally recognized players in the whisky industry. The first such show in Poland which will allow whisky makers from all over the world to get the public’s attention, reflects the trends of the Polish alcohol market.
20%* annually – that’s the pace of whisky sales growth over the past 10 years. Today, whisky remains the leader of growth. The interest in this market is regularly increasing (according to the most recent information it’s 2,5% globally and respectively 39% for quantitative and 37% for qualitative growth in Poland). Polish consumers are taking a brave step in the quest for the golden beverage – they occupy the 11th position when it comes to the purchase volume. According to the Scotch Whisky Association in 2013 Poland received 26.7 million of bottles, the total value of which amounted to 60 million pounds. The spiral of the golden beverage is in our country further reinforced by the growing sales of the Single Malt (growth exceeding 100%**). No wonder then that this specific segment will constitute the core of the October Warsaw Whisky Fest.
Among those who have confirmed their participation are the experimenters from the Scottish Compass Box Whisky Co, the avant-garde of the modern approach to the craft of whisky production – Matisse Spirit Company, the first Taiwanese distillery, conquering hearts of whisky lovers all over the world – Kavalan, as well as the embodiment of harmony – the famous Japanese company Suntory. Two months before the festival, the long list of the companies ready to exchange with the Polish whisky lovers includes also: Teeling Whiskey, West Cork Distillers, Walsh Whiskey Distillery, Angus Dundee, Douglas Laing & Co Ltd, Duncan Taylor, Glenfarclass, Glengoyne Distillery, Morrison Bowmore Distillers, Old St. Andrews, Tullibardine, Scotch Malt Whisky Society, Amrut, Dad’s Hat, Sonoma County Rye, Dry Fly, Ransom, Hellyers Road, The New Zealand Whisky, Artist by La Maison du Whisky, Blackadder. More and morereputable participantsare still being added to this list, thanks to which the Warsaw Whisky Fest has become one of the most important events of the Polish whisky market.
„So far in Poland we have been missing such an event which would show what is the most beautiful in the world of this beverage – the diversity of brands, complexity of taste, broad spectrum of aromas and colours. The rich offer of the festival will certainly satisfy even the most demanding epicures,” says Jarosław Buss, the co-host of the Warsaw Whisky Fest and a whisky expert.
