Two Polish politicians are likely to head committees in the newly elected European Parliament, according to sources close to the Polish government, quoted by 300polityka.pl.
Janusz Lewandowski, now the EC’s budget commissioner, will become head of the Industry, Research and Energy (ITRE) Committee, the sources said. Earlier reports saw Jerzy Buzek as the most likely candidate.
A yet unnamed MEP from the Polish People’s Party will meanwhile head the Agriculture and Rural Development (AGRI) Committee, the sources also said.
The parliament will officially choose committee heads and their deputies between July 7-11. Key negotiations about the positions are however already in progress.
