Unemployment continues downward trend

The latest data published by the Central Statistical Office (GUS) shows a decrease in unemployment. The unemployment rate at the end of May was 12.5 percent, compared with 13 percent in April, as presented in a GUS statement. This is the lowest unemployment rate in the last year and a half.

The amount of registered unemployed persons fell by 92,300, a decrease of 4.4 percent month-on-month, and a decrease of 8.7 percent year-on-year. Labor minister, Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz claimed recently that unemployment may dip below 12 percent this summer.

Warmińsko-Mazurskie Voivodeship showed the highest unemployment with 19.6 percent. Wielkopolskie Voivodeship has the lowest unemployment with 8.7 percent.
