According to the Minister of Family, Labour and Social Policy Elżbieta Rafalska, the unemployment rate at the end of this year may reach 6.8-6.9 percent. “”We said it would be at 7.5 percent, but GUS figures show that unemployment is currently at 7.4 percent. That’s why we think that at the end of the year it will reach 6.8-6.9 percent,” Rafalska said, adding that while the unemployment usually decreases during the summer holidays due to seasonal work, it is higher in the winter season.
In her opinion, GUS data on unemployment levels are promising. “We are starting to have trouble finding hands to work, which is offsetted by the influx of workers from our neighbors to the East,” Rafalska added.
