The coalition of left-wing parties comprising the Democratic Left Alliance (SLD), Twój Ruch (Your Movement), the Polish Socialist Party (PPS), Labor United (UP) and the Greens, on Sunday presented its new leader and a candidate for Prime Minister, Barbara Nowacka.
Nowacka, who co-heads Your Movement, said during her speech that it is time to end the war between Poland’s two largest parties, PiS and PO.
She also said that the United Left will change banking law, so that it will be citizen friendly. Nowacka wants to raise retirement pensions by PLN 200. The United Left proposes to liquidate the lower chamber of the parliament, the Senate and reduce the number of MPs in the Sejm.
Nowacka claimed that the coalition wants to separate the Church from the State, introduce sexual education in schools and pursue a “smart” drug policy.
The coalition needs to win eight percent of the vote to enter parliament.
