The number of payment cards in Poland at the end of the fourth quarter of last year increased to 39.1 million – about 582,600 more than at the end of the third quarter of 2017, according to data from the National Bank of Poland.
As reported by the National Bank of Poland, the total number of debit cards at the end of the fourth quarter was 30.5 million and increased in three months by 394,000 (by 1.3 percent). In the fourth quarter of 2017, the number of credit cards decreased by 83,000 (by 1.4 percent). At the end of December 2017, the number of credit cards was 5.8 million.
There was a further increase in the number of cards with the contactless payment function. At the end of December 2017, the total number reached 31.1 million.
