Warsaw ran to help. Over 266,000 PLN raised for beneficiaries of the Poland Business Run Foundation

On September 2nd, at Służewiec Biznesowy, 3500 people ran to help those with mobility disabilities. Collected money will enable the purchase of prostheses, stabilisers and rehabilitation for beneficiaries of the Poland Business Run Foundation.

Runners competed against each other in five-person teams, and the route of this year’s fifth edition of Warsaw Business Run once again ran along Służewiec Biznesowy streets. In total, the competitors had to cover 21 km (5×4.2 km). Krosno Glass Running Team completed the race first with the time 1h 13 min. 48sec. The second place was taken by the GrupaKetyTeam, which crossed the finish line just two seconds later. The third at the finish line were the runners of Live Well at Citi 2 with the time 1h 15 min. 48 sec.

In total, over 252 thousand PLN was collected from starter fees. Additionally, teams competed in the  “Pomagam bardziej” campaign, which was to support your team financially – all the funds will also be allocated to the beneficiaries of the foundation. The RunKiria Team, representing the KIR, collected the highest amount of money. In total, “Pomagam bardziej” raised – 13,000 PLN.

On behalf of all the organisers of Warsaw Business Run, I would like to thank all those who have been involved in this event. It would not have been possible without runners, sponsors and great volunteers. I am delighted that once again we can help our amazing beneficiaries – says Anna Zawłocka, director of Warsaw Business Run.

The collected money will help the beneficiaries of The Poland Business Run Foundation to return to an active life. Warsaw ran for 8 people. One of them is Angelika Greniuk, who thanks to runners will receive new hand prosthesis.

I was very touched when I saw so many runners at the start line. It is impressive that they wanted to be here and put in a considerable effort to run over a 4 km long route. I feel enormous gratitude, because thanks to them, I will have a light prosthesis, which I have waited for so long – says Angelika Greniuk.

On September 2 representatives of companies and institutions, artists, journalists and athletes ran. One of the relays represented Polish Paralympic Committee, whose president Łukasz Szeliga, started the race and Berlin 2018 Para Athletics European Championships’ medallists – Michał Kotkowski and duo Aleksander Kossakowski and Krzysztof Wasilewski participated.

The Warsaw run was possible thanks to financial and organisational support on many companies and brands, including Goldman Sachs, Citi, Galeria Mokotów, Immofinanz, Birell, Dascher, Flora, Hays, Accor Hotels, DPS Software, Hays, Ketti, Talent Alpha.  Maciej Orłoś and Anna Butrym host the event and  Ewa Chodakowska took care of the proper training before the run.

The run was held under the auspices of the President of the Capital City of Warsaw, Hanna Gronkiewicz-Waltz.

Warsaw Business Run is a charitable business run in the form of a relay race, which takes place as a nationwide Poland Business Run initiative launched in 2012 in Krakow. Every year more cities get involved. This year’s seventh edition took place simultaneously in Kraków, Poznań, Katowice, Łódź, Warsaw, Wrocław, Lublin, Gdańsk and Rzeszów. Altogether, almost 24 thousand runners collected 1.75 mln PLN.
