Poland has built 4,000 km of new high-voltage transmission lines in recent years, with a plan for an additional 5,000 km by 2034, according to Konrad Purchała, Vice President of Polskie Sieci Elektroenergetyczne (PSE). The PLN 64 billion investment aims to enhance energy security and grid capacity, supporting the EU’s integrated power market.

Cross-border electricity import/export capacity has doubled to 4,000-5,000 MW, and Poland is now more connected to European energy flows. However, Purchała stresses the need for dispatchable power sources alongside renewables to ensure energy stability.

As part of EU-wide grid modernization (EUR 30 billion annually), Poland’s transmission network will help balance supply, stabilize prices, and boost industrial growth.
