EU has adopted migration pact. Poland against all ten acts
The European Council approved a migration pact on Tuesday, with Poland voting against all ten acts, as previously stated by Finance Minister Andrzej Domański. The Migration and Asylum Pact aims to reform the EU immigration policy to relieve countries receiving the most migrants and to provide more effective legal frameworks for asylum applications. Besides Poland, Hungary also voted against all acts, while Slovakia, Austria, and Malta opposed some. Most countries supported the new measures.
Prime Minister Donald Tusk stated that Poland will not take in more migrants due to already hosting many, particularly due to the Russia-Ukraine war. Domański criticized the pact for not considering the specific challenges faced by border countries like Belarus.
