Facebook changes its rules before the US election
Facebook has announced that publishing deepfakes and other fake content will be banned on the social platform. The company emphasizes that it approaches the problem from many sides. To better identify falsified content, Facebook will research it on its own, but also collaborate with scholars, the government and other media and technology companies in this field.
Deepfake is a recording prepared using artificial intelligence. It involves applying the face of a specific person to any character. We can see, therefore, how certain people say things they never said or do things that they never actually did in front of the cameras. Facebook has announced that it will change its approach to crafted recordings.
“Manipulation can occur using simple tools like Photoshop or using more complex programs that use artificial intelligence or deep learning to create movies that distort reality. These movies are still a rarity on the internet, but they pose a significant challenge to our industry and society as the frequency of their use increases,” Facebook stated.
