The government announced new regulations to mitigate the impact of adverse market conditions on farmers, following a series of protests. Jan Grabiec, head of the prime minister's office, admitted that while these measures are designed to provide support, protests may continue.

The regulation aims to ensure that excess grain from warehouses is exported before the harvest season. Farmers who sold grain at low prices will receive compensation, with wheat sales from January 1 to March 10 yielding PLN 200 per tonne, and PLN 300 per tonne from March 11 to the end of May. Additionally, compensation will be provided based on specific per-hectare calculations, ensuring financial stability for farmers.

Deputy Minister of Agriculture Michał Kołodziejczak detailed the regulation's scope, covering wheat, rye, triticale, cereal mixtures, and barley. He explained that the aid will be given retroactively to avoid penalizing farmers who sold grain at lower prices during the negotiation period.

The head of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, Czesław Siekierski, noted that the announcement of grain subsidies accelerated the sale and export of grain, providing hope that storage issues could be resolved before the harvest season.

Prime Minister Donald Tusk addressed the ongoing protests, indicating that the government would continue to negotiate and urging farmers not to block border crossings with Ukraine. The protests stemmed from farmers' inability to sell grain due to the market being flooded with grain from Ukraine. While the government and farmers agreed on measures like maintaining an embargo on certain Ukrainian agricultural products, the enforcement of these agreements remained contentious.
