50,000 guides and scouts will come to Gdańsk in 2027

The World Scout Conference decided that the Polish Scouting Association (ZHP) and Gdańsk would be the hosts of the 26th World Scout Jamboree – the largest educational event in the world. In 2027, 50,000 guides and scouts from all continents will come to Poland to develop together, experience adventures, and make life-long friendships. The scouts will be accompanied by over 60,000 tourists who will come to visit the scout town on Sobieszewo Island.
"Being the host of the World Scout Jamboree is an extraordinary distinction for any scouting organization. It is also a huge responsibility and challenge that I am convinced the ZHP is able to face. We hope that the Jamboree organized by the ZHP will inspire and help young people to develop. In 2027, we invite the entire Scout Movement to Gdańsk, so that we can develop as individuals, as a generation, and as a Movement," Grzegorz Woźniak, Head of the Polish Scouting Association, said.
"It is a touching moment for me. I remember the moment when in 2015 the final decision was made in the office of President Adamowicz that we are a candidate for the world scouts rally. And now: we have it! Jamboree 2027 will be held in Gdańsk! The application for the world scouts rally has been extended. We were able to cooperate with scouts longer and prepare well for the organization of this holiday. It is a great moment for Gdańsk and for Sobieszewo Island. We know that we will organize the best world scouts rally ever!" Piotr Grzelak, Deputy Mayor of Gdańsk for Sustainable Development, was pleased with the decision.
The first Jamboree was held in 1920 at Olympia Hall in London. Since then, Jamboree has been traveling across countries and continents. In Central Europe, the last Jamboree was held in 1933 in Hungary.
