65% of SMEs do not include AI in business strategies

According to the AI Barometer for H1 2025 by EFL, nearly 65% of Polish SMEs lack any strategy for using artificial intelligence (AI), especially in transport and HoReCa sectors. Only 0.44% have a dedicated AI strategy, while 35% integrate AI elements into their overall business strategies—mainly medium-sized firms.
Adoption is mostly task-based, with AI used for service automation (78%), data processing (30%), and customer service (26%). Key drivers include service efficiency (81%) and revenue growth (45%). Main barriers are high technology costs and supplier dependence (73% each), cybersecurity risks (38%), and system reliability (31%). Although awareness of AI’s potential is rising, a strategic and systemic approach remains limited.
