AEW, a leading European real estate investment and asset manager, on behalf of its specialist pan-European logistics strategy, LOGISTIS, has leased a 35,000 sqm logistics asset at the Gliwice Silesia Logistics Park in southwest Poland to a well-known European supermarket chain. The letting represents the largest by the area that the Fund has completed in Poland to date.
The unit is one of four on the Park which totals 169,000 sqm and is located in Silesia, Poland’s second-largest logistics market. AEW acquired the 400,000 sqm land plot in 2015 to build logistics parks and develop local infrastructure so as to create long term real estate value. The project started 4 years ago with no pre-identified tenants and today has an occupancy rate of 95 percent.
LOGISTIS owns over 3.9 million sqm of prime logistics space across Europe, with an occupancy rate on delivered assets of c. 95 percent. Since the platform was created 20 years ago, LOGISTIS has assembled a portfolio that today comprises 98 logistics assets across 38 sites in France, Germany, Belgium, the Netherlands, Poland, the Czech Republic, Italy and Spain. The Fund, which has consistently outperformed its benchmark indices over the short and long term, has a total value, including developments after completion, of approximately €3.5 billion.
“This letting, which is the largest the Fund has done in Poland, will provide critical space to support this occupier’s supply chain and is testament to the asset’s location and quality. The challenges faced in the current global environment underline the importance of asset selection and location, but also greater demands from a continued rise in eCommerce,” Ludovic Bernini, Fund Manager of LOGISTIS at AEW, said:
