AI boom driving global trade, benefiting Polish exports
AI-related goods now account for more than 10% of Poland’s exports, and trade in these products rose 34% y/y in July. They contributed about one-quarter of Poland’s overall trade growth, compared with roughly two-thirds of global goods-trade growth, where AI supply-chain products are the main driver. The category includes data-center and computer hardware and essential components. Much of the recent growth reflects higher prices as demand for digital infrastructure outpaces production capacity, rather than simply greater volumes.
Poland benefits from the global investment boom but is less exposed to its risks than economies more dependent on the sector. The long-term payoff remains uncertain: broad business adoption and productivity gains have yet to materialize.
