AI continues progression, but few know what to do with it
AI technology is advancing rapidly, but most companies still struggle to convert it into meaningful business results. While new models are promoted as revolutionary, Gartner research cited in the article found that only 22% of companies have achieved broad, successful AI deployments. New York Federal Reserve research similarly suggests that adoption is often limited in scope. The gap between scientific progress and practical applications is also evident in drug discovery.
AlphaFold transformed protein structure prediction, yet AI has not delivered the dramatic acceleration in new medicines once anticipated, partly because biological mechanisms and clinical trials remain major constraints. AI is likely to reshape economies and everyday life, but how and when those benefits will materialize remains highly uncertain.
