AI demonstrates creative abilities at level of most creative humans
Scientists from Montana have shown that ChatGPT surpasses most humans in terms of generating a large number of ideas and innovative solutions. They subjected artificial intelligence to standard tests evaluating creativity, in which it achieved better results than the vast majority of students, ranking in the top 1 percent in terms of originality. This could take the development of innovative solutions to a new level and change the perception of creativity. Already today, algorithms are used, among other things, in the development of new drugs.
"Some people are surprised that artificial intelligence exhibits creative thinking abilities, but if we go back to its very beginnings, it turns out that its founders openly stated that their goal was to create a simulation of creative thinking. They tried to create a simulation of intelligence, and creativity is a part of it. The creators of AI very specifically defined their goal and used the word 'creativity' in the initial documents that were meant to outline the potential achievements of artificial intelligence," Erik Guzik from the University of Montana said.
Scientists used Torrance's Test of Creative Thinking (TTCT), which has been used for decades to assess human creativity.
