LOT Polish Airlines is set to sign a major deal with Airbus for the purchase of approximately 40 A220 passenger aircraft, with an official announcement expected at the Paris Air Show. This move marks a significant step in modernizing LOT’s short-haul fleet and strengthening ties between Warsaw and Paris.

The A220s offer improved fuel efficiency, lower noise, and seating for 130–160 passengers. The deal follows a competitive bid with Brazil’s Embraer, which lost despite proposing Polish-based assembly. Airbus’s broader technological and political cooperation offer was decisive. The agreement may eventually expand to over 80 aircraft, supporting both LOT's route expansion and the upcoming Central Communication Port. The full deal could be worth several billion dollars.
