Area at Okopowa 78 valued at PLN 300 million
Warsaw councillors have approved the sale of the Okopowa 78 site in Wola, valued at over PLN 300 million, making it the most expensive municipal plot ever put on the market in the city. The 1.6-hectare property includes historic buildings of the former Temler & Szwede tannery, which the buyer must preserve in coordination with heritage authorities. The sale has sparked debate: critics point to unresolved reprivatisation claims from descendants of prewar shareholders, while the city argues that selling the long-neglected site will unlock its potential and improve the area.
Experts highlight its exceptional investment value, central location and strong transport links, suggesting a mixed-use residential and service project as the most likely future development.
