Australian billionaire chooses different approach to Rafał Brzoska to go after Meta
InPost CEO Rafał Brzoska has renewed his fight against Meta after fake Facebook ads falsely depicted his arrest and were used to lure victims into financial scams. His campaign resembles that of Australian billionaire Andrew Forrest, who has spent USD 60 mln suing Meta over fraudulent ads using his image. Forrest’s lawyers argue that Meta’s advertising systems do more than simply host content because they optimize, personalize and distribute scam ads. A U.S. judge has allowed key parts of the case to proceed and ruled that Meta failed to preserve thousands of relevant ads and optimization data.
However, Meta still retains significant protection under Section 230, and the dispute could still be resolved before a jury trial.
