Authorities in Łódź want to build 1,500 new apartments and renovate 2,200 municipal properties

Łódź has announced an ambitious housing program to be completed by 2029, including the construction of 1,500 new apartments and the renovation of 2,200 municipal units. In addition, 125 municipal buildings will undergo comprehensive modernization—covering roofs, staircases, facades, and foundations—while 150 derelict buildings will be demolished to free land for private housing projects. Deputy Mayor Adam Wieczorek stressed that financing and mechanisms are secured, with nearly PLN 170 million allocated in 2025, a 70% increase from previous years.
Around 1,790 families living in uninhabitable conditions will be relocated to new or renovated apartments. The plan also aims to eliminate a backlog of 5,000 window and door replacements, improving living standards and energy efficiency.
