In the first quarter of 2024, Poland's automotive industry saw a record-breaking production output of over 60 billion PLN in the vehicle manufacturing sector (PKD 29). However, the sector faced challenges in exports due to a significant decline in the electric vehicle market, particularly in lithium-ion battery exports which dropped by more than half compared to the previous year.

Additionally, closures of bus factories in Wrocław and Słupsk contributed to reduced employment in vehicle manufacturing and bodywork sectors. Despite growth in domestic production, concerns loom over the future of the segment catering to combustion engine vehicles amidst these market shifts.
