B2B contracts for senior IT workers the norm, but changing

In the first half of 2024, 74% of IT job offers on a B2B contract were aimed at senior professionals with significant experience. This preference is driven by the benefits for both employers, who avoid social security costs, and employees, who enjoy higher take-home pay. However, upcoming regulations might mandate a shift to employment contracts. Reforms to the State Labor Inspectorate are underway, potentially giving inspectors the power to convert B2B contracts into employment contracts if certain conditions are met.
Additionally, a new EU directive could further regulate digital platform workers, ensuring those working under B2B contracts receive employment protections. The changes aim to address concerns that B2B arrangements may exploit workers while offering no employment benefits.
