Battery production plant near Wrocław to produce energy storage systems
LG Energy Solution is preparing to launch production of energy storage systems (ESS) at its factory near Wrocław, which until now has focused on electric-vehicle batteries for brands like Volkswagen, BMW and Porsche. The first ESS units will be delivered to PGE for its major Żarnowiec storage project, fully based on local content with Polish suppliers. The factory, capable of producing up to 1 million EV batteries annually, is also planning a new line for cylindrical cells next year.
LG says that once expanded, the site will become the only facility worldwide producing all major battery technologies in one location. The company is also developing recycling-focused projects to support a circular economy and stresses compliance with EU environmental standards.
