BCG: late adopters have two years to take advantage of AI opportunity
Companies adopting AI now can benefit from cheaper, more capable tools than early adopters had. But BCG’s Central Europe technology chief, Andrej Levin, warns they may have only about two years to reshape their operations before competitors pull ahead. He advises businesses to redesign a few core processes—such as sales, purchasing, or operations—instead of simply adding AI tools to existing workflows.
Levin expects major market swings, though he believes AI’s underlying value will remain. AI agents could reshape online shopping by recommending products and completing purchases. The technology will also displace some jobs, requiring workers to retrain as changes may arrive within five to ten years.
He sees an opportunity for Poland to profit by applying AI across its economy, supported by investment in skills, business readiness, and infrastructure.
