The Future Inflation Index (WPI), forecasting the direction of changes in prices of consumer goods and services several months in advance, did not change in value in April 2019, as compared to March, the Bureau of Investment and Economic Cycles Bureau (BIEC) reported.
“The threat of economic slowdown requires caution in raising prices,” BIEC added.
According to the Bureau's experts, factors that still pose a threat to the future stability of consumer prices include mainly high and constantly rising costs of running a business, gradual weakening of the value of the złoty against the dollar and the euro and “government actions stimulating short-term consumption, in particular private consumption of households, where the propensity to consume is relatively high.”
