British Minister of State for Trade met with Polish government concerning infrastructure projects
Britain wants to deepen its economic alliance with Poland as London seeks a reset in relations with the European Union. Trade between the countries reached £33.9 billion in the year to the first quarter of 2026, with Poland recording a surplus. British Trade Minister Anas Sarwar argues that the EU’s proposed Industrial Accelerator Act should protect European industry without becoming protectionist. He warns that the legislation, in its current form, could harm more than half of Polish exports to Britain and disrupt integrated supply chains.
London wants British-made products to qualify as “Made in Europe.” Sarwar also identified opportunities for cooperation in aviation, rail, ports, critical raw materials, education, digital services, and security, including projects linked to Poland’s Central Transport Hub.
